Pigmentation

Learn about this common condition, and your treatment options at Good Skin Days.

Your skin gets its color from a pigment called melanin, which is the natural pigment responsible for the colour of our skin, hair and eyes. Specific cells within the skin make melanin. When these cells become damaged or unhealthy, it can affect melanin production.

Some pigmentation disorders occur because the body produces either too much melanin (hyperpigmentation) or too little (hypo pigmentation). The scale of pigmentation problems can vary wildly, some affecting tiny areas of skin, others affecting the whole body.

Pigmentation disorders can be congenital (from birth), like albinism or vitiligo. Others develop over time, triggered by factors such as pregnancy or exposure to the sun.

We have a number of products and treatments available at Good Skin Days to help treat skin pigmentation, whatever the scale or cause.
