Chris’ Skin Care Tips for Men…
Skin Care can be low on the list of priorities for some men. However it is easy to keep your skin routine simple yet affective.
Shaving
#Tip1 My first tip is to use an exfoliating cleanser before you shave. A cleanser will ensure your skin is clean and remove any excess oil , bacteria and dirt on the surface of the skin before shaving. Exfoliating will remove any dead skin cells and help to prevent trapped hairs which are a common problem with shaving. Recommended exfoliating cleansers to use before shaving are NeoStrata Clarifying Cleanser, NeoStrata Facial Cleanser or Tebiskin Gly Clean Gentle Cleanser.
#Tip2 If you suffer from trapped hairs, use a glycolic cleanser such as NeoStrata Foaming Glycolic Wash or a facial cleanser with salicylic acid. Salicylic acid penetrates deep into the skins hair follicles removing and preventing future blocked pores. It is also an anti-inflammatory so it will sooth irritated red skin. I recommend using A
#Tip2 Skin can be irritated by shaving especially sensitive skin types. Shave straight after you have showered, skin is softer and hair can be easily removed, making shaving less aggressive on the skin. Or apply a warm flannel on your face before you shave.
Post Shaving
#Tip1 Avoid perfumed cosmetics, aftershaves or creams straight after shaving. Keep it simple. I recommend using a hydrating gel such as SkinCeuticals Hydrating b5 Gel. I use this daily as its easy to apply, no scents, absorbed easily and keeps my skin hydrated all day.
#Tip2 Look for ‘non-comedogenic’ face moisturiser. This means the product does not clog your skin and cause breakouts and blemishes. I recommend using Obagi Hydrate face moisturiser or Phloretin CF Gel which is a great antioxidant serum to use after shaving.
#Tip3 You might think a sun protection product isn’t necessary everyday, trust me it is. Your skin will thank you later. My advice is to combine your daily moisturiser with a high SPF sun protection product. I personally use Heliocare Gel SPF 50.
