Post Summer Skin Advice

Good Skin Days Shop Post Summer Skin for Dry Dull Hyperpigmentation

During the summer months, our skin faces increased stress; high temperatures, intense air conditioning and high levels of sun exposure. Now is the ideal time to repair, protect and prepare your skin for the months ahead. Common post summer skin concerns are dry skin, dull skin and hyperpigmentation.

Dry Skin

Skin can be flaky, dehydrated and dull post summer. To combat this, introduce a Hyaluronic based product into your skincare routine. Hyaluronic acid provides deep skin hydration and locks moisture into the skin.

Product Recommendations:

iS Clinical Hydra-Cool Serum
SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel
SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Masque
Medik8 Hydr8 Skin Serum

Now is the perfect time to change or introduce a new night time moisturiser.

Moisturiser Recommendations:

Oily Skin Types:

SkinCeuticals Daily Moisturiser
Agera Oil Free Plus Moisturiser

Dry skin types:

Obagi Hydrate
Obagi Hydrate Luxe
SkinCeuticals Face Balm

Normal/dry skin types:

iS Clinical Moisturising Complex
Obagi Hydrate
SkinCeuticals Emollience

Normal to oily skin types:

SkinCeuticals Daily Moisturiser

Mature skin types:

iS Clinical Moisturising Complex
SkinCeuticals A.G.E Interrupter
SkinCeuticals Face Balm
SkinCeuticals Metacell Renewal B3
SkinCeuticals Face Cream

Tip: Always apply skincare products from those with the thinnest consistency to those with the thickest. For example, begin with your a gel/serum and finish with cream.

Dull skin

As our sunkissed skin fades, skin can start to look dull. Introducing an exfoliating cleanser will improve skin tone and texture. Look for a key ingredient called Glycolic Acid. Glycolic Acid is a powerful active ingredient which penetrates the skin, encouraging skin exfoliation (removing dead skin cells) for brighter, smoother and younger looking skin.

Product Recommendations:

iS Clinical Cleansing Complex
Obagi C-RX C Cleansing Gel

Tip: Use an exfoliating cleanser 2-3 times a week and increase gradually to regular daily use.

Vitamin C is a powerful multipurpose ingredient which has many benefits to your skin. It stimulates collagen and elastin, (improving skin firmness), is an antioxidant, lightens and brightens skin, reduces pigmentation, hydrates and heals.

Vitamin C Product Recommendations:

iS Clinical Super Serum
Obagi Professional C 10% Serum
SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic
SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF

Hyperpigmentation

Over exposure to the sun can lead to hyperpigmentation (dark patches). Non prescription treatment products such as iS Clinical White Lightening Complex and SkinCeuticals Advanced Pigment Corrector have active ingredients such as Arbutin and Kojic Acid, which reduce and prevent hyperpigmentation.

Tip: When treating pigmentation, apply an SPF every morning to prevent pigmentation darkening and to enhance the effectiveness of your treatment product. I recommend using Heliocare Gel SPF 50.
