Microneedling with imedpen® (formerly Dermapen™)

Before your first treatment, you will have a free consultation with a qualified Microneedling Practitioner where we will discuss what results you would like to achieve.

During the treatment, the Practitioner will apply Topical Anaesthetic cream to your skin, this will be left for approximately 30 minutes to take effect.

The imedpen will then be applied directly to the problem areas, creating tiny punctures in the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin, triggering a healing response from the body.

Whether you are struggling with scarring from acne, appearance or ageing, or other skin issues, Microneedling is an effective tool for rejuvenation and repair. Skin conditions that can be treated with imedpen include:

• Fine lines
• Mild scarring
• Acne scarring
• Skin tone
• Large pores
• Discolouration

The number of treatments required depends on the results you are wanting to achieve and the area of the body treated – take out. As a general guideline, for wrinkles or stretch marks – take out, you may need between 4 to 8 treatments to achieve optimal results.

Treatments are usually at 4 to 6 week intervals to ensure your skin is repairing and regenerating effectively between treatments.

Microneedling treatments are undertaken by one of our experienced and qualified  Practitioners. Each team member undergoes rigorous training to offer the best techniques and care.

To ensure the best possible results, preparation prior to treatment is essential. This will be discussed in your consultation.

Preparation for treatment will usually mean you need to:

• Prepare skin with your practitioner-recommended skincare regime.
• Avoid waxing or laser treatments for 48 hours.
• Avoid using product(s) containing Vitamin A, Glycolic Acid, or any resurfacing ingredient as part of your skincare regime for seven days before treatment.

After your treatment, you may experience erythema (redness) to the skin and also some superficial dryness, which will typically subside within a week.

Please inform us when booking your appointment if any of these are true:

• You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• You have any allergies.
• You have any blood borne viruses.
• You have any current, active infections.
• You are on a course of antibiotics. We do not recommend treatment whilst on antibiotics.
• You have or have taken the medication Roaccutane. We cannot treat patients who have taken this within the last 6 months.
• You are taking any medication, especially if you have recently taken Warfarin, aspirin or any anti-coagulant medication.
• You have any medical conditions, including those that affect blood clotting, healing of the skin or your immune system (eg. Haemophilia, Thromobocytopenia) or any chronic illnesses.
