Cleansing is the most important part of my daily skin care routine. If you do not use a daily cleanser excess oil, dirt and make up left on your skin can build up causing breakouts, blemishes and uneven skin tone. If your skin has not been cleansed properly products applied to the skin cannot be absorbed thoroughly. It’s like painting a picture on a dirty canvas!
I use two different cleansers as my skin is a combination skin type. Sometimes it can be oily, especially around my nose and forehead and other times my skin can feel dry and flaky.
For oily blemish prone skin I recommend SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Cleansing Gel. £22.95. I use this twice a week to reduce excessive oil and prevent breakouts and blemishes. I find the minty smell refreshing and my skin tone looks noticeable brighter. This cleanser contains glycolic acid and salicylic acid which helps to unclog pores, reduce excess oil and gentle exfoliates your skin.
I have combination skin which can be sensitive therefore daily I use Obagi Gentle Cleanser £40.00. I love this cleanser! Its not too harsh but still removes my daily make up. After cleansing my skin feels soft and smooth unlike some cleansers which can leave skin feeling tight. This cleanser is great to use after skin treatments such as skin peels, Dermaroller and Microdermabrasion.
In the morning I apply SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel, Obagi Elastiderm Eye Cream and then Heliocare Gel SPF 50.
At night I apply SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel followed by SkinCeuticals Daily Moisture.
‘This year I was lucky enough to receive a Clarisonic Pro Sonic Skin Cleansing System as a Christmas gift. I don’t have any specific skin issues but had done my homework and was excited by the anti-aging, deep cleansing aspects of the system. I must admit to being very impressed, after only one use I could see and feel the difference in the texture and tone of my skin. Prior to using my Clarisonic I usually removed my make-up and cleansed with a traditional cleanser.
I set the timer on my Clarisonic, which helpfully told me when to change areas. The action of the brush was so gentle, there was no need to apply pressure and the whole process was quite relaxing. The shocker for me was that the brush had removed further products that my cleanser hadn’t removed from my skin and the brush was actually discolored!
I did however have a question that the information provided with the system didn’t cover. A trial size of cleansing gel had been provided with the system but I wasn’t sure whether I had to use that specific cleansing gel or whether I could use a different cleanser specifically to suit my own personal needs. Tamara was very clear that any cleanser would suit so I now use my Obagi Foaming Gel Cleanser when I cleanse with my Clarisonic. I would definitely recommend the Clarisonic Pro Sonic Skin Cleansing System and I have only used it on my face so far, it comes with a body brush too!’

The stunning event was held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel. The Aesthetics Awards brings together industry leaders to celebrate the successes of the past year.
