We are now offering Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy at the clinic, often referred to as ‘The Vampire Facelift’. You might have seen Kim Kardashian trying out the procedure on her TV show, but what is really involved? We explain all here in our step-by-step guide…
The Vampire Facelift is a name for a non-surgical cosmetic procedure involving the re-injection of a gel-like substance—platelet rich plasma (PRP)—derived from a patient’s own blood back into multiple areas of the skin on the face to target problem areas, treat wrinkles and to ‘rejuvenate’ the face.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets. When activated, PRP takes on the form of a viscous gel containing high levels of several platelet-derived growth factors (cytokines) that may then be injected into the face in much the same manner as other dermal fillers such as Juvéderm and Restylane.
The appointment will consist of a 30 minute consultation with one of our trained Nurses and the treatment itself takes about an hour. It is a complex procedure and must be carried out by trained professionals. Often patients will notice a difference to their skin immediately after the treatment. For more about each step, see our explanation below.
